I was taking 4,000 mgs  a day, i think the doses are calculated on a persons body size/weight ect, and  like you the tabs were split into 2  seperate daily doses, Xeloda is quite a kind chemo in that it doesnt cause any hair loss, and as it is taken orally  it  doesnt cause any problems with your veins ect , i was told by my onc to try and make sure i took the tabs at even intervals 12hrs apart ,and to to make sure i took them "after food "eating at least 30mins before taking, i found that just some toast and cereal was enough to avoid any stomach/digestive  probs as sometimes it was hard for me to eat a bigger meal at the times i was taking the tabs because of the spaceing out the doseages ,The main potencial problems SEs wise apart from  fatigue and a drop in blood count, which is common with all chemos, can sometimes be sore hands and feet , though this doesnt always affect everyone,  i was advised by my oncologist to keep moisturising my hands and feet daily with either E45 cream or  another very good moisturiser  called "udderly smooth" which you can buy online from places like Amazon, udderly smooth is used mostly for cows udders  ,but  is also a brilliant moisturiser for people and i still know lots of breast cancer ladies who use udderly smooth when on Xeloda as it realy helps to stop the hands and feet from cracking and becomeing sore.Luckily for me, i didnt suffer wth any real problems with any soreness of my hands/feet so definately the moisturising often and daily  realy did help. All in all for me i can say i found this chemo quite kind compared to others  and also because Xeloda  is a very selective chemo and targets specificaly  only "cancer cells" and not our normal cells i found for the most part i was able to carry on with my life as near normal as possible.Xeloda realy is a very good chemo, and i know lots of breast cancer patients who have been on this chemo for quite some time and have had very good results with it, there is also lots of info on Xeloda on the Xeloda.com website  which may also be of help to you with any other questions you may have.Good luck  to you tabby and all the very best to you .I had Apr surgery Sept 27/2011.
