It's frightening. Then, one day, circumstance had me having to go 2 weeks before I could get my levothyroxine prescription. Within about 4 days I noticed life felt more engaged and vibrant, I could sleep more easily and wake up more easily, and it got better, and better, and better. Assumptions are never a good idea. These are important indicators and should be checked out with your doctor as well. Whereas other BCPs gave me anxiety and depression this made me feel absolutely nothing.
And the assumption that we would know is unfounded. and cranberries!!!
It only appears in animal products, not nature. Am very happy for you having good results. There are many theories on this. KarenI noticed when I stopped taking levothyroxine, I would get more energy, feel a bit better, more clear- my doctor passed this off as a fluke. The sun can build it, but the calcium also needs to be present.
Sirensiren, what does your 'thyroid diet' consist of? But someone else said if I sort out the food allergies, I might 'fix' the thyroid.
When we have an illness or life long condition as you do, depression will set in as we grieve the loss of our "normal" life and adjust to medication, the risks with Hashimoto and so forth. Adjustments are carefully considered by the physician. I expected the opposite to happen.I consulted a holistic doctor who specializes in hormone therapy, and he was actually against levothyroxine for the reason that when a hormone is introduced by drugs, the natural source for that hormone (thyroid) will start to "go to sleep" as it were. I am now 7 months on the thyroid medication and on trying to avoid the 17 things -- including all gluten, onions, tomatoes, soya, Lima beans (Lima beans??? ) Any use of this site constitutes your agreement to the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy linked below. I am happy (and naturally rather enthusiastic) to have my condition under control with the help of a diet change, not to mention it's helped my health all around. You really won't know what will be an issue until you have spent time working through this. The ones that have gotten worse include: depression, cold/hot flashes, hives and high cholesterol. Since you have good control, it sounds like a good physician.Depression is depression.
Levothyroxine is a thyroid medicine that replaces a hormone normally produced by your thyroid gland to regulate the body's energy and metabolism.. Levothyroxine is used to treat hypothyroidism (low thyroid hormone). This medicine is given when your thyroid does not produce enough of this hormone on its own. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. -- being a vegetarian, ask me what I have been eating for 7 months with that combo!! No one knows when their last day is to come. I am a fish, dairy & egg eating 'vegetarian', and am bit worried about sources of protein if I give up all grains, beans, and dairy. Now, if the thyroid is removed, and may be for many reasons including cancer, what should one choose? It is the Pandora Box of science. Please don't try it all once. Levothyroxine may technically make your blood work look normal, but if your thyroid itself is not functioning properly or is triggered to slow down, these effects can happen. Now it is done and I do not regret it. Advertising revenue supports our not-for-profit mission.Check out these best-sellers and special offers on books and newsletters from Mayo Clinic. Allergies can happen any time. And it seems weird to me that one day I am fine and the next day low. There is no estrogen to hold it and the bones and teeth are stripped to supply it. The GP in the US who originally tested me for thyroid antibodies in Sept last year, is now suggesting that since I am experiencing the depression and the hives, and on such a low dose, and the lab results are improving for the TSH, and many symptoms are gone, that maybe I no longer need the levothyroxine (which brand were you using sirensiren?). Try searching for what you seek or The easiest way to lookup drug information, identify pills, check interactions and set up your own personal medication records. Levothyroxine is used to treat an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism). It replaces or provides more thyroid hormone, which is normally produced by the thyroid gland. Should I increase the dose even though my TSH levels have returned to normal? It is the whole thyroid. Levothyroxine is a man made compound that mimics the human one. Many MD's will disagree with going off levothyroxine, but a simple web search will show you many people do not respond well to levothyroxine and fight depression and other effects on it.I am personally on a "thyroid diet", taking natural goat thyroid, and my levels are now normal. Many people respond much better to the Armour thyroid, which encompasses the whole thyroid rather than just one aspect of it (I believe levo just replaces T4). I hadn't brought into my first posting the other issues that presumably are linked (either cause or effect, I don't know).
But thanks again for your reply and very best wishes to sort out your own health issues!
I believe you will do so as well. Many vegetarians have calcium shortages and that means Vitamin D shortage. Uses.
