I became suicidal in such a weird way. *mild akathesia and/or anxiety. I don't agree that they are delusions so I am quite resistant to take it.
I have taken three different SSRI drugs (Prozac, Celexa, currently Zoloft), and also Wellbutrin, Remeron (currently on Trazadone to sleep, let's see if that works), and Xanax to help me in my battle with depression.Commercializing drugs is an utterly disgusting part of the mental health profession; just look at the studies themselves, funded by the companies who hope you will buy their product as if it were Pepsi competing with Coca-Cola.So whatever, the last three professionals I've spoken to have opined about Abilify at a low dose, that "adjunct" to antidepressants that sees heavy commercials in the forms of TV advertising and even pamplets outside my current doctor's (and therapist's) doors. I got used to the sedative effect pretty quickly. I can go on and on on how it has improved my life.
But it took a bit of adjustment. But it seems like the same SE’s pop up in a lot of people and they sound very similar to those I had with Celexa. Abilify is usually used in conjunction with another drug, I think, but I have been off Paxil for 2 months now while staying on Ability.
Dry hands should be used to peel back the foil on the blister rather than attempting to pop the tablet through the foil. It turns out that the dosage for Abilify which is used as a Anti-Psychotic drug will vary. I get it for $50/month.It helped me a lot but I found that I got hot very easily when I was on it. I suppose this is a high dosage, but I was making a transition from Lamitcal (50 mg).Abilify has some pretty wild side effects from what I've read, but my only complaint was the leg agitation and sleepiness, which has worn off since first taking it. More joint pain. *a slight increase in blood sugar popped up on my bloodwork. Hard to tell, but I certainly had a ton of excess energy. Abilify has some pretty wild side effects from what I've read, but my only complaint was the leg agitation and sleepiness, which has worn off since first taking it. At least one the period of time runs out I won't have to worry about the price suddenly jumping. That sucks. Some of the dosage forms listed on this page may not apply to the brand name Abilify.. I had to go home from work.So we found out that a high dose makes me disablingly jumpy, and a low dose does nothing.I'm on Vyvanse now, and I have to admit I love the stuff. *relatively no weight gain.
If this doesn't work I guess there is a med that's like Seroquel and Abilify combined, so can try that if needed. I don't get sleepy during the day anymore. I’m glad it works for you though.I didn't really have any side effects on it, it just stopped working after a month or twoI take it for my OCD type thoughts about killing myself. I'm bipolar ii. So on Monday, I see my psychiatrist who wants to start me on a mood stabilising medication for Bipolar II. As with any medication, I have massive anxiety over potential side effects and wondered what experiences - positive and negative - that you guys have had?It caused akathisia for me, which is very uncomfortable. It would be for a couple of delusions that I allegedly have. It's also just gone generic which is a big plus!Thank-you for the hugely informational reply! Aripiprazole was the first atypical antipsychotic I tried. I am about to start abilify for the first time. Note: This document contains side effect information about aripiprazole. Seroquel made me wake in massive pain in my joints. I've tried Adderall and Vyvanse as study drugs (it works so well I think I have undiagnosed ADD), Adderall seeming more like an upper for me in terms of effect. I’m BP2 and that shite f’d me up big time. Abilify is fat soluble and has a very long 1/2 life. It also zapped my personality a bit.I switched to Risperidone and I'm much happier now.Funnily enough, I took Risperidone and ended up in hospital because of how depressed it made me! Nerve wracking that I have my appointment tomorrow. I’m definitely willing to wait out side effects, I just wondered if the horror stories I’ve read held any truth! By the way recently I quit Abilify and went back on it and have been taking 5mg 4x per week and not feeling drousy. I can't say if it was better than other antipsychotics or not (tbh it feels similar to haldol), but it hasn't been bad in any way. *extreme sedative effect in the early stages of treatment, enough that I called out of work the first couple days. I stumbled like a drunk every morning after taking it at night. i switched to lithium eventually.New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be castA Reddit to share information about who you are, how you think, and what helps you cope in life.Press J to jump to the feed. I have to get samples as my insurance only covers one anti-psychotic at a time and I'm already on Seroquel which I need just as much. It definitely wasn't enough to interfere with my life, but it was there. it works great as a mood stabilizer, but while i was on it i got hand tremors and heard voices. Haven't noticed any side effects except when I forget to take itI take it with my lithium and effexor. I would caution though, if you live in the US the price can be quite high, even for the generic ($300/month or 500-600 for brand). I just couldn’t hold still. I am also terrified of side effects as I have had akathesia from almost every antipsychotic I have had. It's worth a try in my opinion. It shut up some of my voices and I put on 30 pounds.Antipsychotics are so different for different people. Vyvanse was really clean and without agitation.Ability is in a class of drugs called antipsychotics. Disintegrating tablets should not be removed from their blister until ready to administer. Abilify pretty much puts me to sleep, but doesn't make me feel like I am hungover. So if you're willing to put up with the adjustment period I'd say give it a chance :)Thanks for replying!
Both also caused general fatigue and weight gain.So my doc says that my side effect profile isn't seen as much with Abilify.
I'm stable and not psychotic (on lithium + abilify) so there's that.i was on it for a while.
