Better take my risperdal.At first, it really slowed me down. I also had some more rare side affects, like lactation (I’m female). Maybe because my body has learned from the first time taking it.Whenever I go lower on risperidone I feel energized in a good way. Maybe it's cause I started drinking coffee the last two years, but I don't rely on it to wake up.I can only answer 1 and 4 because I was on Risperdal for such a short time. Side effects?I take Seroquel, but when I get really anxious/stressed, I still get some hallucinations. I was once comitted and made to take the drug but I am no longer comitted but I feel if I stopped taking the drug my case manager or Mom or Dad or Dr. would freak out and commit me again. Don't use any cannabis and have had only minor issues so far.
If this one makes you sedated, overweight, and uninspired, ask for something else. It is an antidepressant that has been around for many years, and can be used to treat pain and help aid sleep also. I just have faith in God that everything happens for a reason. I didn't get tired enough to sleep, but I felt like I was in slow motion. The next was risperidone. The dose can be easily adjusted to the individual person. I have slightly more energy, motivation, I feel less zombie like. The Seroquel keeps me in a good place probably 80% of the time, and it helps me sleep, so I want to keep it on board.It's awesome that the risperidone is working so well for you! The risperidone has been tapered to zero in 6 months. Now it just kind of chills me out. Eventually all that wore off.

Consulted my uncle who is a psychiatrist because it made me way too drowsy and sleep too much. Does it require too big a sacrifice?They switched me from Seroquel to Risperidone and it made a big difference for me. (That is, in terms of weight gain and sedation).Just remember, you can always switch psych meds if the one you're on isn't working out for you.
