I trust he recommended Prilosec based on what he saw [in me], but I am wondering if he and/or other GI doctors think Ranitidine does not measure up compared to other heartburn/acid solutions? What you are asking is a little hard due to your question being asking us to explain why your physician has a preference for Prilosec over Zantac.I found a couple of physicians in a medical archive discussing the pros and cons of the two.Prilosec Prevacid, Aciphex are proton pump inhibitors (PPI), drugs that are very effective in shutting down acid production by the stomach. I've been extremely religious about taking the pill, and neither my fiance and I want to use condoms anymore (been using them for about 12 years, only 2 accidents with only one really needing Plan B), and I know they are more effective than condoms, but how do I help myself get over that mental block of fear (keep in mind I have no money for therapy)?Forgive all my questioning; I can't really call PP until Monday (and even then I wait on the phone for an hour+ at their regional call center), and the nurses they sent in to talk to me about my pills were trainees that started that week, that talked over each other and told me basically Reclipsen is 98% effective, but I'll probably get pregnant on the pill, so I'll need to use a condom always.I am extremely scared that I wasn't protected last night despite being on pill #9, so any help would be appreciated (and 3 weeks is a long wait for a more definitive answer via HPT)!
