Had to split the pill for 3 days, making today the first day I took a full 10mg. r/lexapro. lolI’ve never taken any kind of meds before in my life so I’m just super nervous about upping the dose to what the doctor recommend (10mg). Lexapro (escitalopram) is a widely prescribed antidepressant that concerns the group of medications called selective serotonin reuptake preventions.

Generic Lexapro 10mg Over The Counter. I certainly don’t need any more of that in my life. I’m considering staying at 5mg for 6-8 weeks to see how it affects me once it’s really in my system.But maybe I’m just a chicken and too scared of the side effects horror stories to try...You will read hear that some people take 5mg and they say it works, all medical literature and doctors i've talked to about it though says anything less than 10mg is not considered a therapeutic dose.I'm on 10mg and it works great, 5mg didn't do anything for me personally, don't be scared of the horror stories people always focus on the negative I personally know a few people on it, myself included and none of us have had a bad experienceIf 5mg ends up working for you, then u can stick with it. If u still don't notice a difference, then maybe u're someone who needs the recommended dose.I also wouldn't be scared about taking it. So if after 5 weeks u feel better, than u can tell your doctor that you don't want to go higher. I am on day 6 of upping from 5mg to 10mg and I am so over everything! 5mg helped me and my doc insisted that I go up to 10mg but tbh at this dose I feel kind of numb and unmotivated and might actually ask to go back down. 5mg to 10mg.
86% Upvoted. And it suddenly got better on Sunday. Lexapro started kind of odd but then worked amazingly once I got going. I feel irritable, apathetic, angry, depressed, overwhelmed, just DONE. Also, if you are on Lexapro for anxiety you may need to eventually go up to 15mg as 10mg is the standard dose, but to treat anxiety, a lot of people require a little extra. Also note that during the first couple of weeks, the underlying stress and anxiety may make you irritable and cause you to believe the medication is working against you.All I can say is have hope.
But I’m also not noticing any change in my anxiety symptoms (which are relatively mild). Moved up to 5mg 4 days after that, and then up to 10mg 4 days after that. Posted by. Just pay attention to how it makes u feel over the course of the next few weeks and be open with your doctor if you want to change doses or try something elseIt’s crazy how differently it can affect people! I'm trying to remind myself of how much better I felt once I bit the bullet and started taking 5mg and how I will probably feel great once this starts working, but right now anxiety and depression are winning.Hang in there!!! I tried other medication before lexapro and was not successful AT ALL! Always take Lexapro exactly as recommended. I know its pretty typical when changing doses but I just can't stand this feeling, and feeling like I am getting worse instead of better. u/marieccc. So I started taking 2.5mg of Lexapro (Escitalopram) on August 4th. log in sign up. Hang tight and remember there is a reason the dosage went up. I also started on 5mg for 7 days and then went to 10mg. Don't be supersede if your anxiety peaks after about 2 weeks.
