Improvements in urodynamic function can be detected after two weeks of treatment. This result is consistent with those observed earlier [The type of drug used had no effect on changes in the present voiding diary variables; this was also noted by others [Contrary to our hypothesis, in the present patients we were unable to show a higher compliance or lower withdrawal rate with the bladder‐selective tolterodine than with the standard first‐line drug, oxybutynin.

Dry mouth was reported by significantly fewer patients on tolterodine, compared with oxybutynin (35% vs 63%; P = 0.001) and withdrawals due to adverse events were lower in the tolterodine group than with those treated with oxybutynin (10% vs 16%).
Tolterodine was clinically more effective than oxybutynin after 10 weeks of treatment. The overall drug compliance rate and withdrawal rate in the two treatment groups were compared.
