I just re-started tret after two years off and moving to a dryer/less humid city. You can do what is know as "buffering" and there are two methods: 1) mix the tretinoin with moisturizer (about 50/50, I would say) or 2) apply moisturizer first and then apply the tretinoin. It can also help reduce the appearance of surface wrinkles and dark spots due to sun damage. I started using a gentle moisturizer at night (cerave) and in the morning (darphin intral).
Im on 0.025% tretinoin every other day and been using it for little over month.In the evening I moisturize with cerave moisturizing cream.The sunscreen I use during the day is pretty moisturizing itself.However my skin looks overall worse than it did before tretinoin (looks older).Should I also use cerave in the morning before applying sunscreen to moisturize even more? It's okay to apply every three days for awhile, then every other day, and maybe after some time apply every day. Best advice I have is to be patient! My dermatologist actually gasped when she saw my pictures and called it a ‘rip roaring’ case of perioral rosacea/dermatitis.
