So I don't think you're experiencing bad doctoring, I think these are both commonly used drugs that can be safe and effective is used properly. But a nurse practitioner she found prescribed her Topamax (a strong epileptic drug) – and she claims it has helped. My Dr up my Topamax to 300mg a day. I didn't react well to it and now take something else that works so I don't want to scare you, since it is a wonder drug for many people (probably why it's often the first thing doctors try). I also notice my heart beating a little faster after i take my med. Neurologists have ruled out epilepsy. I've tried the Wellbrutrin before I was diagnosed with Epilepsy. I think a grown adult can gauge if a medication is worth taking over unremitting daily pain. Hope you find the right balance soon! And she's only on 25mg. I used meth for over 10 years daily. It directly activates voltage-gated Ca2+ and Na+ channels, thereby reducing the chance of seizure but also possibly modifying the production of GABA. Medical researchers currently do not know how Topiramate works. It's helping some but not a miracle like last time.I've not seen any effect, good or bad, on my anxiety, or any medication interaction between Topamax and Lexapro. I have been taking 100 mgs of Zoloft for about 6 weeks now and today my doctor also prescribed me Topiramate for my severe social anxiety. I get a mental boost with regular exercise and deep breathing techniques helps the depression. Honestly. Topamax is NOT an antidepressant or an anti anxiety agent at all.Zoloft (and healthy diet and regular exercise) helped me LOSE weight, but I am an emotional eater...thus I believe the Zoloft helped me curb that.

Picked up the prescription the next morning, took one 75 mg pill and slept for about 4 hours. Reading bad stories on here sometimes doesn't help. Do you think the thought there is that because I take medication for anxiety, it won't be a problem? My wife has anxiety and it causes 'brain zaps' when in public panic situations (work meetings, etc). I definitely feel out of it and fall asleep very quickly, but so far have felt fine in the morning.
